Accessory

Edge Gallery, Denver, CO

Gallery dimensions 20 ft x 18 ft

The word accessory has multiple meanings that reference being willingly or unwillingly part of a whole. Women are historically seen as an embellishment or supplement, sometimes participating in and sometimes absorbing this compartmentalization. This work consists of several costume-inspired forms made from household fabrics and throw-away objects. The forms within a dramatically-lit setting are meant to address female identity as contradictory and complicated but ultimately as fabrication.
